A bit like the arrival of red buses all at once, the last few days have seen us tackle a succession of issues with patio and entrance door mechanisms that have become stuck or difficult to operate.
Although fantastically simple to use when working, the gearboxes that operate them are complicated and eventually the mechanisms wear out and require replacing.
For example, today we went out to a customer who was having trouble getting the handle to go up on this composite door even when the door was open.
We were able to replace the gearbox and now all is working fine.
We suggest that if problems do start to occur that, particularly on exterior security doors, you get the problem looked at as soon as possible. We have had situations, perhaps inevitably, where mechanisms fail at the most inopportune moments, like last thing at night when suddenly you can shut or lock the front or back door, requiring an emergency call out to secure.
