A recent survey reveals that less than half (49%) of British householders with a burglar alarm turn it on when they go on holiday!
There were an estimated 800,000 domestic burglaries in 2014/2015 resulting in an average loss per incident of £2,267 and damage costing £892. It is not just the loss of material items and the damage which affects the victims, some 80% of those who experience a domestic burglary say they were emotionally affected by the incident with around 1 in 4 having difficulty sleeping after the burglary.
So why aren’t British householders using their alarms?
- Faulty
- Broken
- Animals in the house
- Forgotten pin
- Laziness
- Fear of it going off and annoying neighbours
- Forgetting
