Although latest figures from the CSEW show a 14% decrease in domestic incidents of crime (households and resident adults) compared to the previous year in the UK, non-residential i.e. business robberies have almost doubled in the past decade.
The latest British Retail Consortium annual retail crime survey have found that UK retailers recorded an estimated three million offences against them in 2013-14. This directly added £603m to retailers cost.
The average value of each theft in store increased by 36% to £241 per incident.
