The latest British crime survey unveiled by the home office, recorded the figures regarding robbery has risen by 4% since September 2011. It is clearly time to review our home security.
There has been a lot of information published recently regarding inadequate cylinders in door locks. The new cylinder lock which has been developed is called an anti-bump cylinder lock.
We are entering a busy time of year for thieves. It is important to take home security seriously throughout the year but we need to be on our guard even more at this time of year.

Over the last couple of weeks we have completed a lot of UPVC door replacement lock assignments. Some were as a result of a break in. The handles had been broken and then subsequently the cylinders had also been broken allowing the door to be opened without a key.
Others have been as a result of insurance firms requesting cylinder changes.
Once again we find ourselves with a host of events and activities to look forward to in the coming weeks. Many people will find themselves involved in some form or another!

In our line of work we have come across all sorts of events which have resulted in the occupant unable to gain entry into their property. Yes the most common one is that the owner has either lost their keys or left them on a table inside the house/in their other handbag etc. but becoming locked out of your property can result from something as simple as the wind catching the door while you are putting the rubbish out or talking to a neighbour.
